Fay Fullerton


Fay Fullerton trained in fashion design and period costume at London College of Fashion. She joined the Royal Opera House costume department as a costumier in 1977, was promoted to Head of Production Costume in 1999, and appointed Head of Costume in 2013.

Costume design for the stage include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (2009) by Debbie Allen. Costume design for ballet include Elizabeth (2013) by Will Tuckett, Circular Ruins by Goyo Montero and Two Sides Of by Juliano Nunes, both part of the New Work New Music programme commissioned by the Royal Ballet (2019), Everyone Keeps Me by Pam Tanowitz for the Royal Ballet (2019).

Fullerton’s awards include Kulture2Couture Trailblazer Award, an initiative of the Mayor of London (2007), an Honorary Fellowship from Exeter University for her contribution to the arts and theatre (2008) and an MBE for her services to dance and opera (2010).
